We offer manatee tours in clear kayaks, paddle boards, and high-quality sit-on-top kayaks for this manatee wildlife adventure in Silver Springs State Park. If you are staying in Orlando, Silver Springs is about an hour, and a half from downtown Orlando, and so very worth the drive. During the winter months, avoid the big crowds and boats at Crystal River, and enjoy a peaceful manatee kayak tour in this Florida treasure. Manatees and wild monkeys can be seen here year-round, although the cold winter days bring the manatees in the spring in larger numbers. Experience our clear kayaks, and discover the amazing underwater world of the Silver River.  Silver Springs is some of the best kayaking in Florida, with abundant wildlife, and rich old Florida history. The Silver Springs State Park is an excellent day trip from Orlando, and was the first tourist attraction in Florida, long before Walt Disney World. Silver Springs State Park offers so much to do, including kayaking, hiking, biking, camping, and a wonderful museum. Bring the family! We are beginner, and so family-friendly.

Florida Wildlife Commission Viewing Guide Line for the Florida Manatee

The Florida manatee is a threatened species and is protected by federal and state law. Please do not disturb or harass manatees. Harassment is defined as any activity that alters the animal's natural behavior. By altering the manatee's natural behavior, you may create the likelihood of danger that is bad for the animal and against the law.

Look, but don't touch. Please don't feed manatees or give them water. If manatees become accustomed to being around humans, it can alter their behavior in the wild, perhaps causing them to lose their natural fear of boats and people, which may make them more susceptible to injury or death. .
Do not pursue or chase a manatee.
Never poke, prod or stab a manatee with your hands, feet or any object.
If a manatee avoids you, do not chase the animal for a closer view.
Give manatees space to move. Avoid isolating or singling out an individual manatee from its group and do not separate a cow and her calf.
Keep hands and objects to yourself. Don't attempt to snag, hook, hold, grab, pinch, hit or ride a manatee.

Silver Springs Wildlife

Fun Facts

The Wild Rhesus Macaque Monkeys

The wild monkeys at Silver Springs were introduced in the park in the mid-1930s. Contrary to folklore that the monkeys were escapees from old Tarzan movies, the monkeys were released intentionally by a concessionaire by the name of Colonel Tooey, Colonal Toey released six monkeys on an Island in the park and was going to call it Monkey Island to promote his jungle cruise tour, what he didn't know was that the monkeys were excellent swimmers, and swam away from the Island.. The monkeys adapted very easily to the warm climate and feed on berries, plant leaves, and the occasional bug or two. They now thrive in the Silver Springs & Oklawaha River basin and wetlands. Kayaking in Silver Springs is one of the very few places in the state where you can see monkeys.
